Legacy system:
Legacy system means, it is a software system(can be specifically developed) which is used by the company to deal with regular activities of the business.
In other words, In legacy systems, business do invoice postings, make payments to vendors, receive payments from customers etc.
Examples of Legacy systems:
- SAP R/3 (SAP older version)
- HR system
- Oracle
- Merlin etc.
Middleware:
Middleware is an integration platform which connects the one or more Legacy systems to SAP system by mapping values of source system and target system.
Interface:
- Middleware just helps to integrate values but to transfer the data from legacy to S4 needs an interface.
- It is one of the developments in RICEFW concept (I -> Interface).
- Interface means, it will help to transfer any transactional or master data from legacy systems to S4 Hana system Or vice versa.
