This blog is all about explaining changes of SAP ECC VS S4 HANA from Finance point of view.

SAP ECC (R3) VS S4 HANA
1. Firstly Database: SAP ECC needs support from other database but S4 Hana has its own database store data.
2. New GL Configuration is mandatory in S4 Hana.
3. Business Partner setting is mandatory for Customer/Vendor Master data (even though account groups created) (Links – Configuration setting for Customer BP and Vendor BP).
4. LTMC was introduced in place of LSMW (But still LSMW available in S4 Hana). LTMC is user friendly process but LSMW need functional consultant support.
5. ACDOCA Table – Universal journal table introduced in S4 Hana. It contains all the tables data at one place like BKPF, BSEG, FAGLFLEXA, FAGLFLEXT.
6. Fiori Apps are introduced in S4 Hana. It is a front end application which is used by business users. These can also be access to mobiles, tablets.
- Ex: In SAP ECC, users can only post documents using SAP easy access but in S4 users can post documents using fiori app with desktop/mobile.
7. GL master record
- Account type:
- Balance sheet
- Non-operating incomes and expense
- Primary costs or revenues
- Secondary costs
- Cash Account
- Cost element category field has been enabled in control data tab when your account type is primary costs or revenues, secondary costs
- Removed Line item display because New GL allows display automatically.
8. Bank Reconciliation GL Accounts has been introduced in the SAP S4 HANA, enabling the consolidation of Bank Accounting GL accounts by designating Account Type as ‘Cash Account – Reconciliation/Bank Sub-account’. This feature maps main bank GL accounts to sub-GL accounts (e.g., incoming and outgoing GLs), reducing the overall number of required GL accounts.

9. Technical clearing account introduced in New asset accounting.
10. Currencies in ECC is 3 but in S4 10 currencies.
