How to Post Asset Retirement by Scrapping in SAP S4 HANA, using T code: ABAVN.
Meaning: In Asset Accounting, Asset Retirement through Scrapping involves disposing of non-usable assets with no salvage or residual value, thereby effectively removing them from financial records. This blog provides step by step process of Asset retirement by Scrapping in SAP S4 HANA – ABAVN.
Go to T code: ABAVN.

Header data – Give company code, Asset number, Sub Asset number.
Transaction data – Accounting principle, Document date, Posting date, Asset value date, Text.

Partial Retirement – Amount or percentage, select radio button for reference year acquisition.
Note:
- When retiring an asset partially, specify the retirement value, either as a fixed amount (e.g., rupees) or a percentage of the asset’s value.
- When retiring an asset with cumulative value from previous and current year acquisitions, specify the retirement year to distinguish between current and prior year assets.

Click on Simulate icon.

Displayed the accounting entry.

Click on post button.

Asset scrapped successfully.

Now check the asset retirement in asset explorer T code: AW01N.
