There are 3 types of data available in SAP. Check following with explanation.

1. Configurational data:
- Based on this configuration data sap functionality will works. This will be managed by functional/technical consultants in SPRO (Ref. IMG)
- Every configuration change will be documented with a screenshot.
2. Master data:
- This will be managed by the End user/business user.
- There are different types of master data available in sap. Sap Finance point of view there are few as follows
- GL master, Customer master, Vendor master, Asset master records, Cost center,profit center etc..
3. Transactional data:
- This data is manage by the End user/business user.
- It can be open items, cleared items related to any business transactions like purchase or sales.
Note: when creating/changing Master data and transactional data Sap system does not ask customization requests to save data. It will ask only for create/change of configuration in sap system
