How to Run the Depreciation in SAP S4 HANA – AFAB

How to Run the Depreciation in SAP S4 HANA, using T code: AFAB.

Depreciation run: The Depreciation Run is a vital process that determines and records the systematic decrease in value over the lifetime of the fixed assets. Every Asset is subject to depreciation except for Land, Assets under construction. The frequency of depreciation runs varies, with options for monthly, quarterly, or annual runs.

First check the Asset Explorer in T code: AW01N. As below screen, Depreciation for till today is Rs. 45 for the Asset: 11001-0. Let us post the depreciation in T code: AFAB.

Go to T code: AFAB.

Give the inputs – Company code, Fiscal year, Accounting principle (if specific), Fiscal year, Posting period,

Test Run – Give Asset number, sub asset number (If not Test run – Don’t give the asset numbers).

Click on Execute.

Popup will come – Click on Yes button.

Test run shows – Rs. 45 (From asset acquisition date to today’s date).

Now click on back button to remove the test run and post depreciation.

Remove the Test run and asset numbers.

Now main thing is Depreciation should be “Execute in Background” only.

Click on Program – Execute in Background.

Give the print parameters and click on continue button.

Now schedule the Background job like below.

First click on Immediate (As per your requirement like specific date, periodically etc.) and click on save button.

See the job is now scheduled.

Display the status of Batch Jobs created in the T code: SM37.

Go to T code: SM37.

Give the Job name, user name, select job status looking for and give from and to dates.

Now click on Execute button.

See the job status is finished.

Now select the job and click on Job log (Just to how it is processed).

Displayed the Job log.

Now check the actual depreciation posted for the Asset: 11001-0 under Posted values tab.

Ordinary depreciation posted is Rs. 45 and also showing as green in below.
